Wear Autumn Trends

Autumn has long been called the hardest season to dress for. It’s hard to find the perfect attire to suit the transitional temperatures and temperamental weather patterns, especially while trying to remain stylish at the same time. This is why we’re huge fans of playing with easily removable items… think layers! To help you perfectly work that autumn wardrobe, below are a few of this seasons must wear Autumn trends for you to get in on.

The pant suit

While you may still associate the pant suit with shoulder pads, big hair and all things 80s; they are definitely having a resurgence. Staple colours: black, grey, camel and white are perfect for a sophisticated look. This season’s pant suit is hugely versatile and is breaking away from the standard jacket and pants mould. Think tailored pants and a matching silk or wool sweater.

Chunky knits

Our favorite trend of this season is the chunky knit, not only is it hugely fashionable but also oh so comfortable. Whatever your style there is a knit to match; round necks, turtle necks, cable knit jumpers or over sized cardigans, they can be styled with anything. Try a turtle neck in navy, camel, white or go for fall colours like teal or maroon over a simple dress or jeans, and it instantly transforms the look. Knits are also perfect for layering and are great for helping you transition between the cool weather outside and the heaters inside.

Faux fur stoles

Fur has long been associated with sophistication and elegance, and while wearing real fur has become taboo there are a fantastic number of fashionable faux fur items available. This autumn faux fur stoles are being taken beyond the ski field and are perfect for glamming up any outfit. A stole around your neck can transform a simple dress into an eye catching statement outfit, all while keeping you cosy at the same time.

Statement Earrings

With everything covered up, sometimes it’s hard to show off your accessories. In this situation, your earrings become your best opportunity to add an extra element to your look. Go bold, pearls, crystal rondelles or gold are great, as are chandelier earrings. Outfit depending or if you’ve got your hair up, you could even go for oversized hoops.

Dress on a Beach Vacation

How to dress for a beach vacation | Travelshopa
As the middle of the year approaches, work, study and every day life is starting to feel a little dull. The perfect way to combat those mid year blues is to hop on a plane and head for the sun. What better way to rejuvenate than a beach vacation? Think, sun, sand, cocktails and best of all, an excuse to do a little shopping to create your summer holiday look.

Thinking about how to dress on a beach vacation is simple – pack light! You’ll be lounging by the seaside in your swimwear most of the time, right?! Still, a girl can never be too prepared – don’t leave home without these beach vacation essentials!

Beach Bag

While you may have an old favourite travel bag that goes everywhere with you, ask yourself – is it beach appropriate? If its not, here are a couple of must have styles that can cater to any taste. From stripes, to pompoms, to tribal inspired looks, beach bags come in every style. Stick with a traditional carry all tote or go for one of this seasons key looks – a drawstring bucket bag. Not only is a beach bag a fashionable accessory but it is also super practical. Throw in a towel, cover up and some sunglasses and you’ll be able to easily transition from pool or ocean side chic to bar and sundowners ready.

Sunglasses and a Big Hat

Despite mirrored sunglasses previously being associated with unfashionable middle aged men and cyclists, they are really having a resurgence, and a very fashionable resurgence at that. Seen in very style and introduced by huge brands across the globe (one most notably being Singapore Fashion Week’s closing act Victoria Beckham), love them or hate them they seem to be here to stay (at least for the next season or so). Mirrored sunglasses are an item that add a bit of mystic and glam to any outfit. If you’re looking to go incognito, while remaining incredibly stylish, throw a floppy sun hat on top.

What is great about these two accessories is that as well as being sun safe, they come in so many styles and colours that they are guaranteed to flatter any face shape, outfit and taste.

Cover Ups

Cover ups are probably the most crucial item when packing for your beach vacation. A great cover up can carry you from lunch by the pool to dinner at a nice restaurant all with a subtle change of accessories. A sheer or patterned maxi cover up, with a thigh high slit goes fantastically with beach hair. While a white Grecian or peasant inspired dress acts to perfectly show off your sun kissed skin. From halter neck to strapless to long sleeve mini dresses; beach cover ups literally exist in any style you desire, ready to be shaped perfectly for any occasion.

Bright Colours

Resort wear is all about taking risks. If you look at any high fashion brand, they are not afraid to play around with colour and patterns when it comes to their beach wear looks. Try incorporating coral or cerulean blue into an outfit. This can be done subtly with shorts or more boldly with a some gorgeous swimwear. As far as patterns go, traditional stripes, polka dots or gingham, and aztec prints are always a hit.

Be summer nights ready

How to be summer nights ready | Travelshopa

Spring is in full swing, and evenings are warming up. The time has arrived to bare all more for your evening looks. If you live in the tropics, summer nights are every night, and keeping your evening outfits fresh all year round can be a challenge. While we believe confidence is the best outfit, there are endless options for what to wear from day to night, catching up with friends or on a date night on balmy nights.

The best thing about summer nights is that you don’t have to layer up for warmth’s sake. Layering can be left to the chance of a light breeze or air-con… leaving you with more opportunity to show off your skin. The LBD has long been a go-to piece but this season we are adding a jumpsuit, draped back and two-piece set to our wardrobe. By accessorising right and adding a smile, you will be nailing some of the top trends this summer.

The Little Black Dress

Everyone knows the little black dress is a night out staple. All black flatters all figures, adds a bit of edge to your look and, as an added bonus, doesn’t show signs of accidental spills. To put a bit of a spin on this old classic, we are adding lace and gravitating towards a monochromatic look. Adding a splash of white will make a statement, like a white blazer over a tailored black dress. Another great way to add colour is to play with shoes or any outer layer. As always, accessories will be your best weapon, so pile them on.

The Jumpsuit

A jumpsuit is one of the most diverse items a woman can have in her wardrobe. Whether it’s a short romper or a long pantsuit, it can be easily dressed up or dressed down to suit the occasion. Long jumpsuits look fantastic with bold eye makeup, super high heels and some statement jewellery. This season we are going for classic black or eye catching red.

The Draped Back

Showing a bit of skin is guaranteed to add instant glam. A high slit or short skirt are classic ways show off your legs. We have recently seen the return of the cut out – to show off some waist. At the moment we’re loving the backless, or draped back, look. You can rock it in a dress or a shirt paired with skinny jeans and a pair of killer heels. To add an extra glam to this gorgeous look, try wearing a long statement necklace backwards.

The Two Piece Set

The two piece set is a great look for anyone that wants to bare a little skin and look feminine. They win our vote for their diversity and range of colous, styles and patterns. From a fitted crop top and mini skirt to a high waisted flowing skirt or a 50s style midi you’ll be able to find something you’re comfortable in. If you’re feeling bold, go for strong stripes or big checks or a bold colour like orange. For a more subtle take on this style, go for a higher waisted skirt and a longer crop top that shows just a hint of stomach, leaving much more to the imagination. We think with a change of shoes, the two piece set is perfect for going from day to night.

Dress for Chinese New Year

Dress for Chinese New Year | Travelshopa

Chinese New Year is rapidly approaching! Are you wondering how to dress for Chinese New Year festivities? What’s so great about this celebration is that it gives you the opportunity to fuse tradition and fashion together and the “what to wear” opportunities are endless. From sticking with the well loved colour red or a flattering cheongsam, to adopting a more edgy style by incorporating bold accessories or make up, it’s never been so easy to work your individuality into your Chinese New Year look.

Red is a fantastic go-to colour for any event, none more so than Chinese New Year. This year, why not put your own little spin on it? If red dresses are your thing, might we suggest adding an extra element to the look with lace or a subtle pattern. Red and white go brilliantly together, a cami and full red skirt give a relaxed yet stylish look that is versatile enough for both the office Chinese New Year function, or a celebration with family and friends. If you’re not into a full on red look, then consider a striking red mani-pedi set or a pair of heels that play off the rest of your outfit.

A Mix of Old and New

We all know, that Chinese New Year celebrations meld heritage and tradition; that’s why a perfect thing to wear to any festivity is a cheongsam. To put a bit of a twist on this traditional style, add a bold blazer over the top. However, if you aren’t into dresses; another fantastic look is an oriental-inspired top with tailored pants and an attention-seeking pair of shoes, giving you a chic yet classic look. Many brands are also creating fantastic fusion looks. To master one of these looks, pick a dress with a classic floral or jacquard pattern in colours such as eggshell blue and this year’s pantone “colour of the year”: marsala.

Play with your accessories. Chinese New Year is a time for lots of gold, so if you’re a fan of gold jewellery, take advantage of the celebrations and pile it on. Gold goes with any look and is very versatile. Statement necklaces flatter any neckline so it will work perfectly with any outfit you choose. Another great way to transform your look is by adding pearls and crystals to whatever you’re wearing. A sparkling crystal necklace and some bracelets will easily carry you from a lunchtime celebration with family to a dinner party or drinks with friends. Accessorising doesn’t just stop with jewellery. Make up is another great tool in your fashion arsenal. Sparkling gold or bronze eyeshadow with nude lipstick or bold winged eyeliner and red lipstick is always a winning look.

With the festive season rapidly approaching, it’s time to decide on what outfit to wear to wow everyone at your end of year work do or christmas party. Whether you’re going to a fancy cocktail party, a relaxed brunch or a dinner party; we’ve come up with four festive season style staples for you to incorporate into your look.

For those who love to make an entrance, sequins are perfect. Sequins are striking and have a way of drawing light to all the right places. What’s great about sequins is there are so many ways to wear them, go bold with a full on sequin mini dress which is sure to turn heads or for a more subtle look try a sequin mini, paired with a black or white blouse. We’re currently loving sequin cigarette trousers in black or even a dark green. These look fantastic with a sky high pair of heels. Though if all this sequin business is too much for you, we understand, why not just keep it simple with a sequin clutch?

Emerald Green

Emerald Green is currently taking the world by storm and it’s being seen on all of fashion’s heavy hitters; it’s easy to understand why it’s so loved. Emerald Green is very versatile and perfect for any climate. The great thing about this deep green is it gives us a fashionable spin on a traditional festive colour. This colour can do no wrong; try it as a maxi dress with some statement jewellery or a long sleeve mini dress with some great shoes. If dresses aren’t your thing, try a pair of black jeans with an emerald green peplum shirt.

Gold Jewellery

Gold Jewellery is something that never goes out of fashion and can be worn at any time of day, to any function. Gold Jewellery works perfectly to spice up any outfit and adds an element of individuality to your look. For a festive party it’s great to stand out and that’s why you can’t go wrong with a statement necklace or big earrings. If your outfit doesn’t allow for a bold necklace, pile on some gold bangles in between some sparkly bracelets and you’ll be ready to hit the party.

We can’t think of a better time to wear red. The colour is a well known head turner. It’s vibrant, a little daring and one of the key colours traditionally associated with Christmas. With a splash of red, you can be sure you won’t go unnoticed at this year’s Christmas bash.
