Inspiration: Hotel Hotel, Canberra
We love a cool story to the design of a hotel, and Hotel Hotel in Canberra is one of the most impressive stories we have ever come across.
Residing in the award winning Nishi Building by Australian architectural firm Fender Katsalidisin, Hotel Hotel is a collaboration between 50 of Australia’s top designers, artists, artisans and fantasists. Making it the ultimate artisan arena in the up and coming precinct of New Acton.
The common areas as well as the 68 rooms and suites feature the creative work of local talent such as Al Stark, Lucy McRae, Valerie Restarick, Amos Enders-Moje and Anna-Wili Highfield, and the staff uniforms were designed by Australian contemporary women’s & menswear brand Kloke.
Overlooking the serene Australian outback view of Black Mountain, each room’s foundation of reclaimed wood, concrete and clay walls is the perfect canvas for contemporary designer furniture and home accessories. To recreate this look at home, add accented designer pieces clad in an assortment of colours, prints, patterns and textures and slowly build your way up to achieve a tasteful eclectic space. The goal is to achieve a re-imagination of the Australian shack.
