Hotel Zeppelin | Unique Stays in San Francisco | Travelshopa

The rest of California might be preparing for fall but the land of Indian Summers; San Francisco is latching on to the unseasonable weather.

We are taking full advantage of the sun-kissed city by unwinding in one of these unique yet exciting stays.

From a historic lodge, a former army barracks, to a hotel that embraces the city’s melting pot of diverse cultures; we bring you three unique stays in San Francisco and what to pack.

Inn at the Presidio

42 Moraga Ave, San Francisco, CA 94129, United States

Step into the Inn at the Presidio, a tranquil retreat perched in the heart of the Presidio. Just 15 minutes from downtown, this 26-room Georgian Revival barracks house – which was once reserved for Army officers – is now equal parts chic and snug.

Though the century-old quarters now possess a modern twist, artisan details and military memorabilia reminiscent of the hotel’s history make a cameo around the lobby and rooms. Wooden rocking chairs are placed at the all-white veranda. A fireplace greets you in the lobby and what was once a ‘mess hall’ is now a communal breakfast and lounge area, complete with an outdoor deck with a fire pit.

The rooms – most of which are suites, are furnished with pullout couches, massive windows, iron-wrought bed frames, wooden rocking chairs and gas fireplaces. Travellers with families or big groups can unwind at the charming Funston House, a renovated historic officer’s home with four rooms and a living room and dining room.

Perfect for:

Even the bathrooms scream eccentric thanks to the use of psychedelic motifs. No room gets left behind.
