INSPIRATION: AVALON HOTEL, PALM SPRINGS

One of our main sources of inspiration for each city we cover is Pinterest – and recently we have spent a lot of time on there. I guess it is a given when you look at the number of new cities as have launched. When researching and visiting Palm Springs we could not go by the distinct mid-century modern architecture and interior design style.

One boutique hotel that stood out was the Avalon Hotel, Palm Springs. It has elements of the ever so popular scandi style but it has more edge, cleaner lines, and a touch of glamour through pops of colour. This room designed by interior designer Kelly Wearstler has totally taken us back to the golden age of 1945 to 1975. A time when things were simpler.

The style has got us yearning for her signature Hollywood Regency interiors and hence we searched high and low for the goods. If you don’t want to embark on a whole room overhaul, perhaps a couple of pieces could add that touch of glam with simplicity you are after?
