INSPIRATION: ALEX PAPACHRISTIDIS INTERIORS

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner. Time when the people of China, Taiwan, Singapore and believe or not Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia will go all out to welcome a new year of abundance and good fortune.

Those born in the Year of the Monkey (1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, and 2016) are said to be witty, intelligent, and have a magnetic personality. But wait, they are also mischievous, curious, and clever – making them very naughty! While red is considered an unlucky colour this year, we think a touch of it is highly appropriate (and expected) to welcome in the new year.

Adding auspicious reds is not easy, so we turned to interior designer guru Alex Papachristidis for inspiration. Not a maximalist like Alex? No problem. The key to making red work in your home is by styling various shades of red and mixing it with equally luxurious pieces.

Go ahead, bring in the good luck by decorating in auspicious reds and adding a touch (or a lot) of naughtiness!
