After a long, fun-filled holiday, we all find it challenging to go back to the usual routine. Our kids, most especially, are the ones who find it hard. After all the precious time they spent with you, after the blissful uninterrupted playtime with their friends, how could we blame them? I mean, we experience this too, don’t we?
This new year, ensure your kids love the thought of going back to school. These 3 tips work:
Set an earlier bedtime
We know this is easier said than done, but sending them to bed early will adjust their body clocks accordingly. The trick? Let them play outside during the day. This physical activity is not only good for their well-being, it will also wear them out much earlier, helping them fall asleep fast.
Refresh their memory by rereading their notes and/or books
Instead of allowing them to watch TV or play games on the iPad, why don’t you read them a book? An actual book, not on a Kindle. Or better yet, go over their school notes. This is a good way to know if there is an outstanding task given by their teachers.
Shop for essential back-to-school things
Reward their efforts for being obedient by shopping for school essentials. Take them shopping with you so their mindset is slowly shifted back to school. Ensure, though, that you have a solid agreement: that you are sticking strictly to the shopping list.
