Once upon a time, shopping at the airport meant blowing all your leftover foreign currency on silly indulgences and gifts at duty-free stores. Well, not anymore. Travellers passing through Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1 will now be able to shop unique Singapore-designed and made goods at the brand new KEEPERS pop-up store from now till Jan 7, 2016.
You won’t even have to step outside of the airport to have a taste of Singapore’s fashion and design offerings. The retail pop-up is situated at the Terminal 1 Departure Hall and will showcase a variety of travel-friendly fashion and lifestyle wares from 11 Singapore designers. These include exquisite artisan-crafted jewellery from designers such as Carrie K., Marilyn Tan Jewellery and Saught, a selection of small leather goods by Lingwu, Extreme Exotic and Gnome & Bow and effortlessly chic travel pants from Matter. Other participating brands include Hypergrand, Ayesha, Supermama and A Dose Of Something.
Spearheaded by the Textile Fashion Federation (TaFf) and Singapore designer Carolyn Kan of Carrie K., KEEPERS showcases and retails original Singapore designs with an aim to propel Singapore’s most promising talents on to the international stage. The original pop-up store in Orchard Green flaunted an unprecedented number of local Singaporean designers, with over 20 designers exhibited at the custom-built space. The platform is also supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, SPRING Singapore and DesignSingapore Council.
The next time you’re out and about Changi Airport or sprinting for last minute souvenirs, make it a point to stop by the KEEPERS pop-up store for original designs from some of Singapore’s best!
