Day 4: Harper’s Bazaar Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award 2015
Singaporean designer, Silvia Teh took home the top prize at this year’s Harper’s Bazaar Asia New Generation Fashion Designer Award. The 22-year-old was one amongst ten promising designers from 5 countries vying for the coveted top spot. Held on Day 4 SGFW, the talented young champion faced stiff competition from her counterparts from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Her winning collection referenced Japanese art and Javanese culture to produce a dignified series of looks. The showed off her technical prowess with tightly nipped waists paired with voluminous skirts and the ingenious layering of feathery organza over printed fabrics to elicit an enchanting double-vision effect. Besides the elegant silhouettes, the choice of an inky indigo and black palette eloquently underlined the regal character of the Japanese and Javanese cultures.
