Dress for the Tropics, for Women
Tropical fashion took over all the summer runway shows this year, and lucky for us, dressing for the tropics is everyday affair! To that end, we’ve come up with a few must-haves that are perfect for any tropical climate.
THE PERFECT PAIR OF SHORTS
Shorts are the perfect starting point for any outfit. Dress them up with a pair of heels and a blazer or dress them down with a cute pair of sandals and a slouchy top. The opportunities are endless: from neutrals to bright prints, silk to linen; shorts come in a vast variety of styles and cuts to accentuate any shape. Might we suggest a pair of tribal inspired or silk jacquard shorts with a plain tank or shirt and a striking pair of heels? This look is guaranteed to take you from day to night with a quick change of accessories and a stroke of lippy.
THE SUMMER DRESS
A lightweight summer dress is ideal for those days where you want to look great without having to put in too much effort. Fabrics like linen and cotton are perfect for our tropical climate as they’re breathable and keep you cool even on the hottest of days. Whoever your fashion muse may be, whatever colour palette you’re into and whatever look you’re going for, there’s a dress that goes with it. Our current obsessions are lace, the prim and proper shirtdress and timeless classics – stripes and all-white (which might we add goes perfectly with our summer tans.)
THE MIDI SKIRT
We are currently lusting over the midi skirt. Sported by some of our favourite fashion stars, the midi skirt is taking the warm weather world by storm. Perfect for brunch with the girls or a day in the office, the midi skirt ticks all the boxes. Worn with a pair of mid heels (who doesn’t love cute but comfortable heels?!) and a tucked-in shirt to accentuate the waist, this trend perfectly creates a feminine and classy look. To give your outfit a bit of edge, play around with a denim shirt and a feature bag.
