We can’t deny that shopping in Kuala Lumpur is well stitched as a favourite pasttime for its people, and visitors, so it comes as no surprise that furniture and furnishings options in the city are in no way neglected. Shopping for furniture in Kuala Lumpur is an adventure in itself, with so many varied styles and aesthetics to pick from. The most predominant style perhaps, is a mix of vintage with modern that has become a staple of small-space living.
To satisfy the appetite for both, we’ve come up with a list of eclectic vintage stores along with modern contemporary furniture stores in KL that will help you in building your lush, happy home.
Solid teak furniture
Ethnicraft solid teak furniture gets our absolute stamp of approval for its emphasis on sustainable sources and durability. Even better, Ethnicraft ensures that each furniture piece is designed to look timeless, yet modern, with simplistic, authentic and functional aesthetics that go in line with the fundamental design principle of form following function. Look out for their best selling pieces, the Mondrian-inspired M rack and the Slice extendable dining table, which are clever designs that are as sleek as they are handy.

The creative trio behind Pieces has a flair for transforming something unassuming such as a vintage window grille into a standout handmade table. Recycled wooden tables and reupholstered chairs contribute to the overall theme of rustic vintage. Unique vintage finds
1, Jalan Kiara, Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 50480 | Warehouse: 134 Jalan Sg Besi, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 57100. By appointment only.
One of the KL’s most popular furniture shops, The Curiousity Shop oozes an old school charm that pretty much resembles the one in Charles Dickens’ novel, “The Old Curiosity Shop”. Storeowner, Danny Ho, simply lives and breathes vintage wares, and fortunately for us vintage-lovers, decided to convert his collection of rare vintage items into a bona fide vintage store for like-minded collectors. The entire store looks like something out of a 1960s film, with old-school furniture made of faded wood, decades-old Japanese figurines, originally packaged Star Wars memorabilia, framed vintage advertisements, typewriters and even an old camera from World War I. The Curiousity Shop also does reupholstery, restoration and customisation services so you end up with a one-of-kind piece that you’ll treasure over the ages.
Sophisticated modern design classics
Iconic Store: 54, Jalan Putra, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 50350 | Urban Store: 67, Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 2, Taman Usahawan, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 52100 | Also available online.

Massive, one-stop furniture shop
No KL homewares article would be complete without the inclusion of Viva Home, a massive, one-stop shop that houses some of Malaysia’s most exciting home retailers. Whether you’re looking for new furniture, easy-to-carry home accessories or a random lifestyle item to show off to your friends back home, Viva Home has it all. Viva Home also takes part in the annual Malaysian Furniture & Furnishings Fair, which brings together a diverse range of furnishings businesses together in one place.
