If you’re looking to embrace the oriental look wholeheartedly this Chinese New Year, look to noted Singaporean designer, Marilyn Tan‘s new line of jewellery. The Chinoiserie Collection is a colorful line of resin based pieces inspired by Chinese tapestries and traditional Chinese wooden panels that can be seen in the grandest of palaces – a nod to the decorative aspects of Chinese culture.
Says Marilyn of her new collection: “I was inspired by a trip to Shanghai and some Chinese tapestries I had seen in Singapore to work on a “Chinoiserie” themed collection.” The designer explores the use of resin in her designs, with pendants and earrings intricately carved for a lattice effect, evocative of the ornate lacquered wood panels and glazed ceramics of China. Some of the standout pieces include a gold chain necklace featuring three floral carved resin pendants in a clover leaf formation and drop earrings with floral engravings paired with gold plated 0.925 silver; all available in unique shades of red, coral, blue and white.
