Everyone knows that shopping is our number one favourite activity to do, but to be really honest; eating good food comes as a pretty close second.

Fortunately for us, an increasing number of local entrepreneurs have come up with multi-concept ideas over the past year, bringing us clever new spaces where you get to eat and shop in the same place – which is pretty much the ideal shopping concept in our book.

In some cases, in the examples of PACT, Manicurious and Carpenter & Cook, you get three concepts all thrown into one space, which makes things all the more exciting! Here are seven multi-concept boutiques spread across Singapore for you to pick from!

Carpenter & Cook

Vintage home decor with handmade pastries

#01-06, 19 Lorong Kilat, Singapore 598120

This multi-concept store is exactly as its name suggests – ‘Carpenter’ for its vintage furniture, and ‘Cook” for its cakes, bakes and tea. Look out for some cool home décor pieces like an old school typewriter, or nifty decades-old weighing scales set atop vintage coffee tables, with vintage sofas to match. Then settle down for some handmade cakes and pie, or take home some jars of homemade jams, biscuits and marshmallows. If you’re looking for wedding ideas, Carpenter & Cook also provides styling services, vintage props and whimsical dessert tables for your unique wedding receptions, or even parties, photoshoots and other events.

Maison Ikkoku

Fashion boutique, cafe and bar

20 Kandahar Street, Singapore 198885

With a fashion boutique, café and bar all rolled into one, Maison Ikkoku is probably one of the few stores around that is open from nine o’ clock in the morning, all the way ‘til the late hours of the night. You could start your day with a hearty breakfast at their café, then browse through indie labels from all over the world when the boutique opens at 11am, then return to the café for some gourmet sandwiches and specialty coffee made by baristas who’ve been trained in Tokyo. In the evenings, head down to the bar on the second floor for some bespoke cocktails and their signature drink such as the Flambe-tini, Fruity Martinis and Champagne Cocktails.

For your manicure fix

41 Beach Road, Singapore 189680

Similar to PACT, Manicurious melds food, fashion and beauty all in one space – except that instead of giving you hair a makeover, you get to dress up your nails. Treat yourself to new gel tips or a French manicure, then enjoy a coffee and some baked bites, and buy yourself some fashion accessories, notebooks, postcards, socks or stationery, all in one place. Their boutique contains a wide range brands such as Cruciani, Happy Socks, By Invite Only, Laurel and Ashlyne’s, which include both local and international labels.

Amazing meals, top-notch menswear and japanese hairdressing services

#02—14-23, Orchard Central, 181 Orchard Road, Singapore 238896

Multi-label menswear boutique K.I.N may have closed its flagship store in Haji Lane but you can still get their highly curated menswear labels at PACT, a three-way collaboration between K.I.N, Japanese-Vietnamese restaurant-cum-bar Kilo, and a Japanese hair salon named PACT + LIM. Despite their obvious differences, they do share one thing in common though: an undying passion for their individual crafts, so you, as the customer, get amazing meals, top-notch menswear designs, and Japanese hairdressing services all in one place.

Exciting pop-up boutique

If you’re a lover of the arts, food and shopping, then Temporium is definitely the place for you. The pop-up store provides some sweet homegrown fashion labels such as Sundays, Possi-tilly-ty, By Invite Only, Ling Wu and Ade.g, just to name a few. And if all that shopping gets you hungry, you could enjoy some “Modern Singaporean” cuisine – a term coined by the minds behind Wild Rocket, who are also in charge of serving up the meals at the pop-up boutique. Plus, there’s also artisanal coffee by popular brewer Papa Palheta, on top of art exhibitions and workshops presented by Books Actually along with local artists and craftsmen. The store is only around until March 8, 2014 so we suggest you make the most of it ‘til then!

General Company

Lifestyle store with interesting regular workshops

150a Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207563

Cordially known by its acronym, TGC, Tyrwhitt General Company can be described as a true lover of design and craftsmanship. The store stocks a carefully curated selection of local labels and brands that boast top-notch quality – both design-wise and in terms of craftsmanship. It’s here you’ll find the most beautiful and artistic items, ranging from accessories, bags, pouches, books, home décor pieces, photography prints, and even eye wear. They may not have a café or restaurant incorporated into this concept, but they do hold regular workshops that are definitely not your regular sorts – think rubber stamp carving, terrarium design, and basic leather crafting.
